Estate olive oils are prized for their distinctive characteristics which are influenced by natural factors such as the soil, altitude, microclimate and olive variety. The cultivation and production techniques add to the individuality of the product's character. Single estate olive oil, known as Estate Olive Oil, is a type of olive oil that is obtained from olives grown exclusively on an individual farm.
ILIADA SINGLE ESTATE comes from one of the oldest family-owned groves situated in the lowlands of in Messenia, a property with 1200 olive trees in an area of 100 acres. Its quality is superior: Early harvest, 100% extra virgin, monovarietal from Koroneiki variety olives of a naturally low acidity. Green aromas on the nose give way to the riper flavours of flowers, walnuts and tropical fruit like avocados in the mouth. Banana, nettles and mint, artichoke and green grass make up its aromatic bouquet. It is smooth and buttery on the palate finishing with a strong peppery sensation. Produced in numbered bottles to control and maintain its high quality characteristics.
The olive trees are situated in Spillia Trifillias, a place that is very well known to produce the highest quality olive oil in the region. It is also called “Ladohori” which means the “olive oil village”. The olive mill is family owned passed from generation to generation since 1898. Mr. Alexis, the olive oil producer and owner of olive oil mill is particularly proud of a special tree on his farm, aged before 1821 which still blooms and yields approximately 100kg of extra virgin olive oil. He has inherited this property from his great grandfather and this goes further back, from father to son…. Mr. Alexis confesses: “We love the olives. We live because of them”
